Hello, my name is Dr Craig Jordan-Baker and I’m a writer and academic who helped with this project.
The tour you are about to hear is unlike others. We are used to relying on curators and other experts to tell us as about a place like Preston Manor, but for this tour, we wanted multiple voices with many perspectives from a multitude of backgrounds. So, we sought out people from the local community to research, write and record their interpretations of this wonderful historical building. Our volunteers were assisted by museum curators and writing professionals, but the voices you will hear are theirs, the observations and passions your will hear are theirs. And the memories you take home, will be yours.
This tour was commissioned by Brighton & Hove Museums, with generous support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. We really hope you revel in the grandeur, history, stories and apparitions of Preston Manor. Thanks for listening.
